Children's festive clothes get worn hard and washed often. A few habits keep the colour and embroidery looking new for longer. The instructions below are the same ones listed on our product pages.
Kurta shalwar
For our boys kurta shalwar:
- Gentle machine wash with similar colours
- Do not bleach
- Iron on medium heat
- Dry in shade
Washing whites separately from dark colours matters most in the first few washes. Drying in shade rather than direct sun helps darker shades such as black, navy and olive keep their colour.
3 piece waistcoat suits
The waistcoat is embroidered, so our waistcoat suits need more care:
- Dry clean is recommended for the waistcoat
- Gentle hand wash the kurta shalwar in cold water
- Do not bleach
- Iron on low to medium heat, on the reverse side for embroidery
Ironing embroidery
Turn the piece inside out and iron from the back. This protects the thread and any sequin work from direct heat.
Stains on the day
Food stains are part of any dawat. Dab the mark with a clean damp cloth as soon as you can and avoid rubbing it into the fabric. Wash the outfit as soon as you are home rather than leaving it in the laundry basket.
Storing between events
- Wash or dry clean before storing, even if it was worn only once.
- Hang the waistcoat so it keeps its shape.
- Keep festive clothes in a dry cupboard away from direct sunlight.
If a care detail is unclear
The care instructions for each product are in the Care section of its page. If you are unsure about a particular fabric, read our fabric guide or ask us on WhatsApp before washing.
